About Us

The Prince Edward Island Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association is made up of companies committed to providing a strong, unified voice for the heavy construction industry. The Association is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of eight Regular Members and two Associate Members, who meet monthly, along with a Manager responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on behalf of the membership. The Association encourages members to do business together and supports events that foster connection and collaboration within the industry.

Incorporated in 1962, the Association was established by contractors and suppliers to represent their shared interests and to advocate collectively to all levels of government. Over the years, the Association has worked closely with the PEI Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal to help develop many of the policies and procedures still in place today. Through active committees, these policies and practices are continually reviewed and updated to support an efficient, cooperative working environment for both contractors and highway officials.

The PEI Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association recognizes the highway system as a vital foundation of the province’s economy. A safe, reliable, and modern road network is essential for moving goods to and from markets and supporting key industries such as agriculture, fishing, manufacturing, and tourism. The road building industry also plays a significant role in local communities by providing employment, supporting suppliers and service providers, engaging private trucking companies, and generating economic activity across the province.
